Melissa R. Ahlers is the Managing Partner of Newman & Ahlers and a Professor of Practice at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. She graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law after obtaining a Master of Public Administration from the University of Arizona Eller College of Manageme
Melissa R. Ahlers is the Managing Partner of Newman & Ahlers and a Professor of Practice at the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. She graduated from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law after obtaining a Master of Public Administration from the University of Arizona Eller College of Management. During law school she was awarded two CALI Awards for Excellence, in Estate Planning and Evidence, served as an Editor of the Journal of Environmental Law and Policy, assisted homeowners in the mortgage clinic of Southern Arizona Legal Aid, and represented children in the Family Law Clinic. Melissa is a member of the State Bar of Arizona Probate and Trust Section, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Southern Arizona Estate Planning Council, and Arizona Fiduciaries Association. Melissa currently teaches courses in the Health Law & Policy program.

Douglas J. Newman was a founding member of Newman & Ahlers, PLLC. He received his J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, and his LLM (in taxation) from the Holland Law Center, University of Florida College of Law. Rogers College of Law, and his LLM (in taxation) from the Holland Law Center, University of Florida College of Law. During law school he was awarded Best Argument in First Year Moot Court Competition, and served as Managing Editor of the Arizona Law Review. Doug was an adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and spoke at numerous seminars for the State Bar of Arizona, Pima County Bar, and other organizations. Doug passed away in December, 2015.
